NC Concealed Handgun Permit Certification
This class covers North Carolina's State mandated curriculum to obtain your certification for the North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit.
This classroom portion of the class will be conducted at our Cerakote facility in Burlington, NC. The range portion will take place at DPRC (Durham Pistol & Rifle Club). The class will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a lunch break. More information will be emailed to students before the class date.

To be eligible for a CCH permit in NC:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be in NC for over 30 days
- 21+ years of age
- Not under felony indictment
- Cannot have felony conviction
- Cannot be fugitive from justice
- Cannot be unlawful user of controlled substances, alcohol, narcotics
- Cannot be judged to be mentally ill or lacking mental capacity
- Cannot be discharged from armed forces under less than honorable condition
- Cannot be convicted, PJC or suspended sentence for various misdemeanors of violent crimes
- Cannot be free on bond
- Cannot have impaired driving conviction in past 3 years
Course Overview
North Carolina law requires the classes to be 8 hours in length which covers the following:
- Handgun safety, storage, types, operation, and handling procedures.
- Students will learn and demonstrate how to load, unload, and safely handle a handgun. (Weapons handling is not the intent of this State mandated class and we recommend attending a basic handgun fundaments class at a minimum in addition to this course.)
- Review of commonly concealed firearms, concealment techniques, holsters, and accessories.
- 4 hours of the instruction will cover the legal requirements based on the publication “Laws Governing Concealed Handgun and Use of Deadly Force” provided by the North Carolina Justice Academy.
- A short exam which you must score 70% or above on to obtain your certificate.
- A shooting qualification with targets at 3, 5, and 7 yards.
- This classroom portion of the class will be conducted at our Cerakote facility in Burlington, NC. The range portion will take place at DPRC (Durham Pistol & Rifle Club).
- The class will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a lunch break. More information will be emailed to students before the class date.
- Please arrive around 7:45.
- Bring note taking materials.
- Bring water, lunch, snacks, etc.
- You are required to bring your own firearm for the shooting portion. You must also bring hearing protection, and eye protection.
- Please wear range appropriate close toes shoes and weather appropriate clothing.
- For the range portion you will be shooting from low ready at targets from 3, 5, and 7 yards.
- Empty casings will remain at the range.
